School Trip Record
During secondary school education in the UK, students are encouraged to increase their confidence in spending time away from home and their independence. Day trips and overnight trips are an important part of the curriculum, and pupils with adrenal insufficiency must be facilitated to participate fully in these activities.
Whether it is a day trip or a Duke of Edinburgh expedition, there are many considerations for staff, parents and the student to think through and plan for, to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
This School Trip Record is a 9-page A5 booklet that includes:
- Student details and contact information for key individuals (parents/GP etc)
- School details
- Trip Itinerary
- Health needs (diagnosis, medication, allergies)
- Adrenal Crisis management
- Pre-trip Checks
- Templates and daily lists
- Medication Log
- Further resources
This School Trip Record is one of a selection of resources that students, families and schools may wish to refer to:
- Emergency Flowchart
- Independent Healthcare Plan Template
- Medication Log
- 'Managing Adrenal Insufficiency, including Addison's disease, during Secondary School' 45-page booklet.
The ADSHG has created this booklet in collaboration with clinicians, parents and teachers.
